George Daniels Reed
June 27, 1932 - December 25, 2017

Mr. George Daniels Reed, 85, of Burlington died at 6:56 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 217 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 28, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of George Brooks and Mary Frances (Daniels) Reed. He married Mary Frances Davis on December 12, 1954 in Burlington, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2015.
Mr. Reed worked as the office manager for Alliant, formerly Iowa Southern Utilities, for twenty eight years, until his retirement in 1998. He was a class of 1951 Burlington High School graduate and also a Burlington Junior College graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1957 as a 3rd class Petty Officer.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Moose Lodge 579, Welcome Center volunteer, D.M.C. Historical Society, Heritage Trust, G.R.M.C. Auxiliary and a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks and Eagles Club.
Survivors include two sons, Bryan Davis (Shelene) Reed of Mebane, NC, and Thomas Daniel (Elizabeth) Reed of Knightdale, NC; grandchildren, Dr. Brooke (Aaron) Browning of Knoxville, TN, Kelly Reed of Knightdale, NC and David Reed of San Antonio, TX; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandson, sister and niece.
The memorial service for George will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. David Yonker officiating. Family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
