Celeste F. Marszalek
November 14, 1959 - January 1, 2018

Celeste Francine Marszalek, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, January 1, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

A celebration of Celeste's life will be held at 5 P.M., Friday, January 5, 2018, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3 to 5 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and a private burial will be held at a later date.

Celeste Francine Marszalek was born on November 14, 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Walter Carl and Rose Marie (Hasmonek) Marszalek. She grew up in the Oak Creek and Milwaukee areas. She married Gary Brooks Sr. and to this union five children were born: Crystal, Angela, Gary Jr., Cynthia and Connie.

Celeste had worked as a housekeeper for the Super 8 Motel in Ankeny, Iowa from 1996 to 1998, and later for Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa from 1998 to 2002. Prior to 1996 she was a homemaker.

Celeste enjoyed listening to classic rock and country music, and painting ceramics. She loved her stuffed animals, especially her moosedeer and frogs. Additionally, she liked to going to casinos and spending time with family.

Those left to honor Celeste's memory include her children, Crystal K. (John Jr.) Manning of Andrew, IA, Angela (Chris) Slater of Garland, TX, Gary (Alyce) Brooks of Davenport, IA, and Cynthia Brooks (Alan Dyas) of Clinton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; a brother David Marszalek of WI; and sisters, Patrice Conners of NV, and Chris Schiraldi of CA; and her longtime boyfriend Kyle "Skip" Dyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Connie.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Celeste Francine Marszalek memorial fund has been established.
