James Edward Howell
April 13, 1932 - January 5, 2018

James Edward Howell, age 85 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Southern Manor. He was born on April 13, 1932 in Russellville, Alabama to the late John and Virgie Rea Howell. James served and retired from the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening, country music, and going to Sample's Restaurant on Shrimp Day. Most of all, James loved the military and his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Howell; brothers, Jack Howell and Nelson Howell; and sisters, Shelly Howell and Frances Howell. James is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Fox of California, and Barbara (Kenneth) Banfi of Decherd; sons, Thomas (Christina) Howell of Mississippi, and Billy (Susan) Howell of Lebanon; grandchildren, Gary Dewayne Cook, Amanda Fox, Scott Harris, John Harris, and Kayla Howell; great-grandchildren, Heather Cook, Lori Cook, Zach Moore, Kelsea Martin, and Aubreigh Harris; and nephew, Jimmy Crawford. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
