Gary Shepard, 79, of Sarasota, Florida joined his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2018. Born June 4, 1938 in Blountstown, FL to the late R.E. Shepard and Flora Bell Sweeting Daly. Gary moved to Sarasota when he was 6 weeks old. Gary attended Central School, Bay Haven Elementary, Sarasota Junior High and Sarasota High School. He joined the Army in 1958 and served as an MP for four years. Upon returning home in 1961 he began working for the Sarasota Herald Tribune as a pressman, retiring after 40 years.
Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Kinney Shepard, daughter Kim Shepard Adair, son-in-law Ross Adair, his grandchildren Reed and Emma all of Hoschton, GA, sister Pat Holmes of Omaha, Ne.
In addition to his parents, Gary is predeceased by his son William Garette "Bill" Shepard, Jr, brothers Bernie, Gene, Ed and Glenn and sister Shirley Hook.
A memorial service was held on January 8, 2018, at Oak Pointe Church, Bradenton, Fl.
