Your Dad loved farming, he loved his fields and animals and tractors and working the land. What hard work it was and he continued to do it mush longer than most people would even think of working these days. But he knew how to have fun and laugh too. He was a great friend to my Dad and Mom. I never heard a cross word from him or about him, he was truely a saint and someone we should all strive to be like. I loved his jokes and his laugh. Duane Ellsworth Tweten, 89, of Highland in rural Lanesboro died Friday, January 5th at his home. Duane was born March 14, 1928 in Rushford to Reuben and Lillian (Reilly) Tweten. He and Maxine Jorde were married at Highland on March 17, 1951. They farmed in Highland for their entire married lives, dairy, hogs and beef cattle. When younger, Duane enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting. Later he liked to shoot pool at the Highland store. More recently playing cards and joining his friends for breakfast at Burdey's in Peterson. He belonged to First Lutheran Church of Highland.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Alan) Kreidermacher of Altura and Sharon Tweten of Winona, five grandchildren; Jeremy (Stacy) Kreidermacher, Daniel (Tara) Kreidermacher, Debra Kreidermacher, Andy (Jessica) Kreidermacher and Peter Kreidermacher; great-grandchildren; Ethan, Cole, Jared, Austin, Megan, Kellen, Taylor and Brady. Duane was preceded in death by his wife Maxine in 2003 and by a brother Virgil and a sister Arlene.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Highland with Pastor Patricia Hinkie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Service in Rushford and for one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
