"Richard was a very special friend to my family. I don't know if I'll ever find a more caring and compassionate person! Ever. We had so many fun times together joking around and up North fishing. He loved the outdoors and loved to be in the woods. He was especially good to my daughters who felt he was a part of our family. He was always there as a loving support and we grew to learn what a beautiful soul he was. He constantly talked about how proud he was of his beautiful daughter, Shelby. We will miss him dearly. Jean Reuteler"

"Richard made an incredible impact on my life. We knew Richard for about 13 Years, he was just like family to us. We traveled and shared many of our family vacations with him! His favorite was always our cabin where he could usually be found outside fishing! He was ALWAYS smiling, worked very hard, was fun to be around, always had a good story, and above all, he ALWAYS put others before himself. My children loved him dearly, known as "Ricky-joe", he always made time to sit down and play with them. I will miss him dearly, but he will live on in all of the wonderful memories I've had the pleasure of sharing with him throughout the years! My prayers and condolences go out to his family, especially his daughter Shelby- he would light up with just the simple act of saying her name. Love Jamie Appelhof "
