Donnie Max Weets
June 10, 1953 - January 7, 2018

Donnie M. Weets, 64, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of Donnie's life will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, January 12, 2018, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. There is no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private burial will be held at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa, at a later date.

Donnie Max Weets was born on June 10, 1953 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Max and Veda (Edwards) Weets. He was a graduate of Maquoketa High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he began working at John Deere in Davenport. He worked there for over 30 years, retiring in 2017.

Donnie married Barbara Sturgeon on June 10, 1991 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Donnie was a member of the Andrew AMVETS Post #62. He liked a good meal and enjoyed talking on his ham radio.

Those left to honor Donnie's memory include his wife Barbara Weets of Maquoketa, IA; and sisters, Connie March of MN, and Amy DeLarm of IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Donnie Max Weets memorial fund has been established.
