March 27, 1929 - January 8, 2018

Kathleen A. Luther, age 88 of Colfax, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Newton Healthcare in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Howard Street Christian Church or the Colfax Senior Citizen Center and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of Charles and Mary Sage, Kathleen was born on March 27, 1929, in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1947 and graduated from Drake University with an Elementary Education degree. On May 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Luther at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Kathleen became a farmer's wife, taught in the rural schools, Colfax Elementary and Mingo Community School for 26 years. She then worked for 8 years for the Federal Government in the USDA. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Colfax, Past Matrons Club, Mingo Women's Club, former member of the Sand Hill Grange and was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church. She enjoyed doing crafts, especially crocheting, enjoyed flower gardening and reading.
Those left to honor her memory include several nieces and nephews, Eric (Debbie) Sage, Joel (Jeanine) Sage, Suzanne Mann, Larry (Judi) Sage, Sally (Rick) Hills and Nancy Reinlie. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Sage, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 2000, two brothers, Frank and Harry Sage and a nephew, Robert Mann.
