Doris E. Axmear
January 13, 1922 - January 8, 2018

Sigourney- Doris Evelyn Axmear was born January 13, 1922 in rural Iowa County, the daughter of Oscar & Laura (Morse) Shaull. She attended country school through eighth grade, graduated from Keswick High School in 1939 and attended Iowa State Teacher's College. She taught in rural and consolidated schools for 5 ½ years. On January 11, 1945 Doris was united in marriage to Dale Stevens Axmear in Keswick. They lived in El Centro, California for six months before returning to Iowa to farm. Doris was a member of the Keswick United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, prayer and bible study group and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Doris died on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Manor House in Sigourney at the age of 95 years.

She is survived by a son Alan & wife Jean Axmear of Sigourney; ten grandchildren Rebecca Snyder, Matthew Bengtson, Jonathan Bengtson, Michael Bengtson, Jessica Bengtson, Bryan Axmear, Alyssa Ohrtman, Brad Axmear, Jessica Horras & Hanna Kullander; a number of great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband Dale in 1999, a daughter Anita Bengtson and an infant son.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Keswick United Methodist Church, Keswick. Dr. Charles Klink will officiate. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in North English.
