Ardith Lucille Gunderson
March 13, 1920 - January 8, 2018

Ardith Lucille Gunderson, 97, of Ponca, NE passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE after a brief illness.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery in rural Ponca. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home, Ponca, NE.

Ardith Lucille Childs was born March 13, 1920 on a farm near Newcastle. The Childs moved to Sioux City, IA where she attended grade school. Later they moved to a family farm in rural Ponca. Ardith graduated from Ponca High School in 1938. She married Roy "Stub" Gunderson on December 21, 1939. The couple farmed in the rural Ponca area. They moved into the town of Ponca in 1986. Ardith enjoyed gardening, attending to her flowers, and visiting with her neighbors. She adopted three kittens in 2008, a Maine Coon and two white. She enjoyed their companionship over the years and missed them terribly during her time at the Elms.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Pall bearers will be great-grandsons, Jon Martinac, Jeffrey Sands, Aiden Newton, Tyler Kesby, David and Stephen Malott. Honorary pall bearers: great-grandsons, Jeremy Martinac and Chad Kitzman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mable (Heidy) Childs and Earl M. Childs; her husband of 65 years, Roy; son-in-law, Roy L. Curry; niece, Diane Snook; nephew, Terry Lynn Heydon; in-laws, Randall and Florence Gunderson, Amy and George Lamprecht, Dee and George Durand, Bertha Mae Kaspar, Shirley Wersinger, Harold Whitman and Larry Olson.

Ardith is survived by sister, Maurine (Heydon) Ruffin; her daughter, Phyllis Curry; step-granddaughters, Sherry (Dale) Kitzman, Marty (Gene) Kappler and Julie (Glenn) Malott; step great-grandchildren, Jon, Jeremy, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Chad, Kari, David and Stephen; ten step great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma Whitman and Opal Olson; several cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
