Glennis Ruth Fritz, 86, of West Burlington, died 10:45 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Danville Care Center.
Born December 2, 1931 in Luray, MO, she was the daughter of Charles and Glennis (Sommerville) Kerr. She married Verald "Ping" P. Fritz on June 17, 1961 in Luray, MO. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1999.
Glennis was a seamstress including 15 years of alterations for Younkers. She attended high school in Ft. Madison and secondary school at Northeast Missouri State College. She was of the Baptist faith. Many years ago she was active in the West Burlington Booster Club. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, sports, collecting cookbooks, and trying new recipes.
Survivors include two sons, Brent Fritz and Eric Fritz both of West Burlington; two daughters, Keri Fritz of West Burlington and Sara (Kevin) Wilkins of Mackinaw, IL; one sister, Doris Bucy of Dallas, TX; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Leslie and Chuck Kerr.
The funeral service for Mrs. Fritz will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Dean Graber will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Family visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Lunning Chapel.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington Athletic Booster Club.

" Aunt Glennis's Homecoming on January 8th, at 10:45 p.m., Friday, 2017 Written by nephew William "billy" Fritz (Originally from a small farm outside of West Burlington, Iowa and now residing in the San Francisco area of California since 1981) Aunt Glennis was a soft spoken, simple woman...a gentle woman...always ready with a smile that would light up a room... but Aunt Glennis wasn't afraid to tell you if you did something wrong... Aunt Glennis loved those around her and wanted all of us to do well in life...I have fond memories of watching Aunt Glennis finishing various sewing projects in her living room...looking up from time to time in her favorite chair outside of her bedroom...watching her children grow up...Uncle Ping would be in the kitchen talking to my Dad that everyone knew as Uncle Howard...they would be commenting on the latest events in the Hawkeye or national news...Aunt Glennis and Uncle Ping were very proud of their children...why?....because they were theirs...they were their children...they loved everyone of them... Aunt Glennis and Uncle Ping loved each other...and it showed with their easy way of talking to each other... Back in the ...I think it was the early 70's...my Dad and I....Uncle Claire and Aunt Charlotte...drove to Wisconsin to see Uncle Ping...he was in the hospital in a full body cast...he had been in a bad accident. The car that he was in was driven by a young man who had dozed off.. he had drifted into the oncoming traffic. He crashed head on into another car...the young man's mother who was also in the car passed on in that accident....In the hospital Uncle Ping still managed to smile at us even though I could see that he was in terrible pain....eventually Uncle Ping was brought home. Aunt Glennis did not hesitate to place a hospital bed in the room between the kitchen and the living room....she gave excellent nursing care to Uncle Ping filled with unconditional love. ....years later...Uncle Ping became debilitated again....Aunt Glennis again devotedly....resolutely...and lovingly took care of Uncle Ping until he passed from this world... Aunt Glennis was devoted to Uncle Ping and her children... I remember my Dad talking to Uncle Ping on the front steps of their house...my Dad loved his brother so much.... My Dad said to Uncle Ping... "Our lives are like a drop of dew glistening in the early morning...beautiful...fragile....perishable....and gone so suddenly as if it never was..." Even at my young age and throughout my life I have held their conversation as a universal truth. We should love each other....we should treat each other with respect during our living days... We should treat every day as if it could be our last....because one day it will be... .... ...if we can be helpful and not selfish to each other...than we should... Aunt Glennis believed that as well....This was her legacy and lesson to us all. It is indisputable that our lives have a beginning...a middle...and finally a completion ...I want to share three passages from the Bible .... The first passage is from Psalm 34:18 which says.... "The Lord is near to those who are discouraged; he saves those who have lost all hope." And in Romans 12:15-16 it is written to Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. And finally...I wanted to share with you this final passage from John 16:22 that says "You are now very sad. But later I will see you, and you will be so happy that no one will be able to change the way you feel." Let's bow our heads for a moment of silence while we remember and celebrate Aunt Glennis's life.... Aunt Glennis, God Bless you... Uncle Ping...God Bless you.. "We moved in two doors down from Glennis and Ping 39 years ago, with a 3 year old and a year later a baby. Glennis treated them with many items she made, including homemade Halloween costumes, and many cross stitched magnets and gifts. There were cookies, and at special times the kids went to their home to decorate cookies with Sara especially. Sara babysat for the kids, but was much more like a sister than a babysitter. Glennis was always there with a watchful eye and a helpful hand. We so appreciate her, and are sorry for Sara, Keri, Brent and Eric's tremendous loss, as well as her grandchildrens.
