Joyce Locke Carter wrote on Jan 11, 2018:

"Where to start? Bill was kind and patient. I also found him wickedly funny. I remember sitting at my mother's baby grand piano trying to find that elusive high note he could whistle -- we were dying laughing with that dog whistle pitch of his. I didn't know him as a pastor but as a family member, and I very much enjoyed his company. We spoke a few times about rhetoric, my field of study, and how homilies employ rhetoric, and it seemed to me there was much to learn from him. I'm thinking of you, Phebe and family.
