Mary J. Taylor
May 13, 1935 - January 5, 2018

Mrs. Mary J. Taylor, 83 of Indianapolis was born to the late Wilson Sherels and Cora Bell Pope on May 13, 1935. She is preceded in death by a sister, Velma Sherels, brother, Derrick Sherels and husband Carter D. Taylor. Mary Jane moved to Indianapolis at the age of six months.
Mary Jane accepted Christ and was baptized at a very young age. If you knew Mary Jane then you know she loved the Lord.
Mary Jane worked at Methodist Hospital for 25 years. She loved to cook! And cooking for others. Mary also loved to decorated and a flair for fashion. She was an avid shopper and could spend hours in a store, going up and down every single aisle, never seeing the same thing twice.
Mary Jane was a active member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church for over 30 years. First under the leadership of Rev. Newman and then under the current pastor Dr. Theron Williams. She faithfully served as a nurse for 20 years and also a member of the senior citizens program.
Mary Jane was also a dedicated Pacers fan, you would of thought she was part owner due to her fierce loyalty.
Mary Jane is survived by her six children; Deborah A. Murray (Stan), Shelia Tyler, Melvin Tyler (Deatra), Valencia Long (Ivory), Vincent Brown, Tammy Wallace, grandchildren; James Moore, Stephanie Baker, Brian Moore, Kevin Grooms, Larry Davie, Angela Tyler, Cardale Wallace, Carl Wallace, Carney Wallace, Dewayne Brown, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sister, Michelle Sherels, brothers; Gregory Sherels, Bruce Sherels, best friends; Helen Craig, Edna Currin, aunts; Henry Lee Sherels, Vivian Denny and a host of other relatives and friends.
