John L. Miller, 66, of Andrew, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Wellman, Iowa.

A private burial was held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. There is no visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

John Loyal Miller was born on August 23, 1951 in Andrew, Iowa, to Forrest Lavern and Eleanor Myrtella (Miller) Miller. He attended Andrew High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army from January 21, 1971 until receiving an honorable discharge on October 17, 1972.

John had worked as a welder through the years most notably for ADM in Clinton and WADY'S in Maquoketa. He had worked construction for his uncle Don Miller.

John had been a member of the Andrew AMVETS Post #62.

He is survived by his children, John (Beth) Miller of Bernard, IA, and Stacey (Barry) Shoemaker of Monroe, WI; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Forrest Jr. and Steven Miller, and a son Corey Miller.
