Rosemary Schiltz
January 28, 1926 - January 9, 2018

A mass celebrating her life will be held Monday January 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, IA with her son Deacon Jim Schiltz and Father Tim Johnson officiating. Visitation 9:00-11:00 with mass to follow.


A memorial will be held Friday January 19 at 1:30 at Thomas Rest Haven 217 Main St. Coon Rapids, Iowa.

Rosemary Rita Ruth Harn Schiltz was born January 28 1926 in Dunderton, IA daughter of Ed and Mary Lamb Harn.

She entered this world at a mere 3 pounds and developed her fighting spirit early on. After graduating from Sacred Heart H.S. with honors in 1945, Rosemary was united in marriage to Lawrence Schiltz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA on November 25, 1947. They were blessed with twelve children during their 57 years of marriage.

The couple moved to Algona, IA in 1965 before settling in Wesley, IA. Rosemary spent her life devoted to her family and to her faith. Her proudest moments came from raising her twelve children, the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to her life.

Following Lawrence's death in 2005 Rosemary "Rosie" moved to Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, IA in 2007 to be near her daughter Rose. Over nearly 11 years Rosie built a community of friends and made Coon Rapids her home. She had a tremendous impact on countless people and had a special fondness for her friends at St Gregory's Retreat.

Rosemary was called to heaven on Tuesday, January 9 2018 while surrounded by her family. She will be remembered by many for her strong faith, devotion to the rosary, ability to make instant friends, and her incredible Irish spirit.

She is survived by brother Maurcie Harn; children: Jim (Connie) Schiltz; Mike (Mari Rae) Schiltz; Patrick Schiltz; Paul (Diane) Schiltz; Rita Alexander; Anthony Schiltz; Larry (Nina) Schiltz; Rose (Lynn) Knudsen, Phil (Illa) Schiltz; Ruth Semro; Anita (Steve) Schiltz-Loitz; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; son, Bernard; infant sister Edna; brother Edward "Casey" Harn Jr.; sister Lucille and great-grandson Damon Schiltz.
