In loving memory of

Betty Parente
July 27, 1934 - January 8, 2018

"Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries." This was Betty Parente's favorite Song. Like the lyrics, throughout her life she shared laughter and love with all those she touched. On January 8th, 2018, Betty peacefully crossed into spirit, Sunday surrounded by those who loved her. She died after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease, but will be remembered for how she lived.
Born in Wanamaker, Indiana in 1934, Betty married her husband, John, in 1955. Over the course of their nearly 63 year marriage, family was the cornerstone of Betty's life. Together with John, they raised three children (Rick, Kim and Chris) and both were joyously involved and took great pride in the lives of their Grandchildren. She was among the first wave of "Working Moms," and spent many years as the activities treasurer for West Lafayette Schools.
Her circle of friends also brought many cherished memories. From the countless camping trips, to the weekly card games, to the "game day" Boilermaker" gatherings, Betty was always up for a party and an adventure.
Betty loved travel, and spent much of her free time exploring the coasts, the forests, and the cities of this great land. She had a passion for gardening, and was often found in her yard, carefully tending to her landscaping, plants and flowers.
Betty is preceded in death by her Mother and Father (John and Mary Hurley) and three of her grandchildren (Elizabeth, Emma and her beloved Nick). She is survived by her husband, John, daughter Kim (Tim) Monger, Sons, Rick (Nan) Parente, and Chris Parente; three grandchildren, Angie & Addy Monger, and Scott (Julie) Parente, and sister Joan Christoff.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Betty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of America. And as the song concludes, may we each "Live and love and laugh at it all."

Family wishes to keep the services private.

"Not knowing Mrs.Parente, but often watching her son Chris on television, hearing stories of his childhood and how he holds his family close to heart and in the highest esteem speaks loudly of the love this family has for each other, with the mention of mom his eyes hold a special light. God bless this family on the loss of obviously one of Gods greatest rays of sunshine in the lives of so many she touched.
