Jim loved bowling and was on multiple leagues (Alley Oops, Midwest Mixers, Tuesday King Pines and others). Jim met his wife Lori Borg at a bowling alley. After dating for many years, Jim and Lori were married on September 22, 1995 in Maui, Hawaii. They enjoyed their wedding day by being married in a flower garden and attending a luau on the beach that night. There was nothing as special as dancing on the beach at sunset in Maui with the one you love.
Jim loved to play golf. Jim would love to just walk up to the ball on the tee and hit it and it would fly. If he took the time to set himself up, he would end up duffing the ball and curse! His greatest moment was playing golf in Hawaii and climbing into the rocks like a Billy goat to hit his ball. He wasn't about to take a penalty shot!
Jim was known around the Quad Cities as one of the best auto body repairman, specializing in frame work after an eye injury prevented him from painting any longer. He worked for numerous body shops (Carl Cleve's, Sergeant Peppers and Wes's Body Shop). He also had his own business for a while called Jim's Body Shop.
Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of dogs, his ability to get along with everyone and his love for sun tanning! You would see Jim out in his yard taking care of his flowers and then he would take a break and sunbathe. He loved decorating his yard for Christmas- the more lights the better. You could see his lights before you would see his home.
Lori would like to give a special thanks to Tara Farrell for making sure that Jim ate and for taking time to talk to him even when he couldn't respond. Jim thought the world of Tara and would get jealous if she talked to anyone but him.
Jim is survived by his wife Lori, his son Jim (Sheila) of Ava, MO; his sisters Lula (Don) Dyer of Springfield, MO, Regina (Jim) Evans of Ava, MO, and Norma (Lee) Cornelison of Green Valley, AZ; his brother Boyd (Pat) Lakey of Birchwood, MO; brother-in-law Jim Watterson of Ava, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Brandy (Michael) Harvill and their children Talon and Hope, Becky Lakey (Brad) and her children Lauren, Zach, Blayne, Hunter, and Harper; sisters-in-law Leaetta (Phil) Waack of Davenport, IA, and Linnet (Don) Wainwright of Clay Center KS; brothers-in-law Larry (Sharla) Borg of Bellevue, IA and Harry (Jorja) Bradley of Davenport, IA.
