Don Schwendemann, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Trinity Regional
Medical Center. The memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2017 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joey Feldmann officiating. The visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Don was born in Fort Dodge, IA on June 15, 1935. He grew up and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1953. Then he continued on to the University of Iowa for 2 years, the US Army for 2 years, and then to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA where he graduated in 1960.
He was united in marriage to Doris Eckhart on April 4, 1959 in Marion, IA. After Don graduated from Palmer College they made their home in Fort Dodge, where he worked alongside his father Roy Schwendemann and then his son Steve Schwendemann as a Chiropractor in Fort Dodge until his retirement.
Don was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. He enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes and helicopters, being a licensed ham operator, and working in the yard.
Don is survived by his children; Steve Schwendemann of Fort Dodge, Heidi (Dave) Polson of Windsor Heights, IA, grandchildren; Madison (Sam), Ethan, Lauren, Justin, and Austin; great grandchildren Max, Jared, Alexis, and Cashton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris and his parents Roy and Mildred (Romedahl)Schwendemann.
Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
