Phyllis Lee Kemling, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Phyllis was born April 17, 1937 near Macedonia, Iowa the daughter of George and Lilly (Rash) Shook. She graduated from Macedonia High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Lawrence Kemling on May 17, 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Red Oak, Iowa. Over the years Phyllis worked for Montgomery County National Bank and retired after many years from Houghton State Bank. She loved traveling and spent many vacations with her friends from the VIC group at Houghton State Bank. She also spent many hours collecting many different kinds of trinkets.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Lawrence Kemling on March 31, 1989; sisters: Judy Stephens and Dorothy Knudson and brother: Junior. Survivors include her daughter: Debra Irvin and husband Mike of Hastings, IA; sons: Larry Kemling and wife Diane of Seymour, IN and Terry Kemling and wife Tracy of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Christopher Irvin and wife Lisa of Pacific Junction, IA; Andrew Irvin of Red Oak, IA; Lucas Kemling of Seymour, IN; and Katie Kemling of Seymour, IN; great grandchild: Rylee Irvin of Pacific Junction, IA; sisters: Juanita Achenbaugh and husband Bill of Henderson, IA and Betty Hecter and husband Keith of Sorento, IL; brother: Jerry Shook and wife Marilyn of Council Bluffs, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, January 26, 2018 at Evergreen Cemetery.
