"Donnie and Family - You know every once in awhile we meet someone and after gettings to know them, we say to ourselves, "There will never be another like him". This is exactly what I think about with Donnie & Pat. Don was on the coop board in Shenandoah when I became manager in 1970. He and I worked together for 10 years on that board. His common sense input was invaluable to all. Don would say, fellows, lets cut out the "crap" do what makes sense!!!!!!! Everytime I think of Don & Pat a smile comes to my face. Great people!!!!!!!!!! I'm better for having crossed their path in life."

Donald "Donnie" J. Doyle
October 29, 1931 - January 22, 2018
Donald Jeremiah Doyle was born October 29, 1931 to Joseph Patrick Doyle and Anna Marie (Laughlin) Doyle. Donnie was born in the farmhouse on the Doyle farm north of Imogene. He was very proud of the fact that the only times he resided elsewhere were the 2 years he served in the U.S. Army (1956-1957) and these last few years when it was necessary for him to reside at Windsor Manor and then Elm Heights.
As a young boy, Donnie attended St Patrick Academy in Imogene graduating with a class of 7 students in 1949. During his youth, Donnie learned to work hard on the farm. Despite his long days and commitment to the family farm, Donnie made plenty of time in the evenings to travel with his young friends to Omaha for dances. Over the years, he also found enjoyment in travelling to other parts of the country on various adventures.
In 1957 he took over the Pioneer Seed business from his brother, Ambrose. Donnie was a natural talker and salesman, he really enjoyed discussing farming with his customers. Don would go on to manage the Pioneer Seed business for 40 years before passing it on to his son.
In 1968 Donnie met the love of his life, Pat (Ethelyn). To this union, Donald Joseph, was born in 1971. Donnie and Pat shared a common love of travelling and adventure. They often enjoyed time at the AKSARBEN race track and later the casinos in Council Bluffs. Through these activities they enjoyed countless hours together and made many new friends. At home the couple stayed busy by supporting young Donnie at his baseball games and activities. More recently, Donnie and Pat loved to spend time supporting their grandchildren in their activities. As Don was inclined to stick closer to home in these later years, he stayed 'social' by creating a 'coffee club' in the mornings at the Pioneer Shed. There he and his buddies were able to reminisce of adventures and share stories with the younger generation.
Donnie was preceded in death by his wife Ethelyn "Pat" Doyle, parents Joe P. and Anna, brothers Maurice, Edward, John, Ambrose and Kenneth Doyle, sister Mary Langston, sister-in-law Ann Doyle, brothers-in-law Norman Langston and Tom Ruckdashel.
He is survived by his son Donnie and wife, Tara, grandchildren Brooke, Britney and Blake Doyle all of Imogene, Iowa. Step children Craig Eberly and family, Janice Engle and family, his sister Shirley Ruckdashel, sisters-in-law Dolores, Genevieve and Kathleen, 14 nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Imogene.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
Memorials may be directed St. Patrick's Catholic Church Heritage Garden.
Burial will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Imogene with military rites provided by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 88 Color Guard.
