Carol Jean Moore, one of six children of Lydia Mae (Chase) and Fred M. Sell, was born on June 29, 1928, on the family farm near Malvern, Iowa. She grew up near Malvern and attended country school at Osborne Valley for seven years and Pleasant Valley for one year. She completed her schooling at Malvern High School and graduated in 1946. Carol was a member of the East Liberty Methodist Church. Following high school, Carol attended Commercial Extension, a business school in Omaha, Nebraska, and then worked at Mutual of Omaha for five years.

On July 27, 1952, Carol married Randall Jay Moore at the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha. Randall was from Henderson, Iowa but was serving in the United States Air Force, so the couple traveled and lived in many places. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Maurice Meredith, born at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico; two years later, Crystal Ann, born in England; and in 1959, Michael John, also born at Walker Air Force Base.

Carol enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. While Randall served in the Air Force and they were overseas, Carol volunteered to work at the hospitals and at nursing homes.

After 20 years, Randall retired from the Air Force while in San Antonio, Texas. In 1970, Carol and Randall moved to Bothell, Washington where he worked in the United States Customs Service of the United States Treasury. In 1984, they moved to Front Royal, Virginia and Randall continued working for the Treasury until his retirement in 1993. Randall and Carol moved to Red Oak, Iowa where they continue to make their home and were members of the Hope for Life Christian Church. They both enjoyed traveling and visiting their children and love to spend time with their grandchildren and attend their special activities.

Carol passed away on January 23, 2018 in Tucson, AZ at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Randall Moore in 2012; sisters, Oma Mickelson and husband Vern, and Jessie Scott and husband Leroy; brothers, Nathan Sell, Max Sell and wife Myrna, and Calvin Sell and wife Delsie.

Carol is survived by her children, Maurice Moore and his wife Chun Cha of Tucson, AZ, Crystal Swilley and husband Gerald of High Springs, FL and Michael Moore and wife Rebecca of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
