Carol A. Hess, 83, of Clinton, passed away, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center - Clinton.

A Funeral Mass will be 10:30am, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Carol Anne Kershner was born on December 16, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter o Frank J. and Lois (Lisk) Kershner. A life-long resident of Clinton, she graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1952. She was registered nurse, a 1955 graduate of St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a licensed auctioneer, and a licensed real estate agent in the 1970's. She married John V. Costello in 1956. She later married James M. Hess in 1978, he passed away in 2017.

Carol was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed music, reading, classic movies, walking, shopping, and doing puzzles.

Carol is survived by two daughters: Dr. Kathy (Lyle) Van Buer of Davenport, IA, Mrs. Dawn (Randy) Nissen of Plover, WI, a son: Brian (Shanistie) Costello of Clinton, IA, a step-daughter: Vicki Rekemeyer of Rockford, IL; six grandchildren: Ryan (Mary) Van Buer of Davenport, IA, Chris (Laura) Van Buer of Marion, IA, Jordan Nissen of Plover, WI, Troy Nissen of Dubuque, IA, Brett and Brittany Costello of Clinton, IA; one great-granddaughter Ellia Van Buer of Marion, IA; a cousin: Jody Lueders of Clinton, and a nephew: Joe Stahmer of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her father: Joseph Kershner, mother: Lois Owen, step-father: Norman Owen, and a step-son: Brian J. Hess.
