Tributes

Beth L Simpson wrote on Jan 28, 2018:

"I have known Dan for many years as he and Kris lived next to my daughter. My oldest granddaughter has very good memories of Kris and Dan. I was honored to get to see him 3 weeks ago at my mom's for Jade and Charley's birthday. He was so good with kids and a great guy. I cannot be at the funeral or the visitation as I have to work. Dan and I talked about my upcoming stress test and he let me know what I should expect. He was a fighter, never letting anyone know what pain he was in. Kris, we will all be here if you need anything!"

Tom Butler wrote on Jan 28, 2018:

"I worked with Dan for several years at John Deere and have a lot of fond memories of him. Dan was a worker. We didn't always agree on everything but I could always count on Dan to be there every day and give his all while he was there. He also was a big help in keeping Junior in line. To Junior and his Family I would like to send my condolences. I will always remember your dad as someone who put his heart and soul into whatever was asked of him."

"To Kris and entire family: Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. I think of the many gatherings we spent with you before we began working at Mulford. One of our best memories was watching Dan as a proud grandpa at Community Character Camp. It is evident how those kids lighted up his world. May God give you His peace, and love. Blessings TooBA & Ally"

"I have a lot of precious memories of my big Uncle Dan but this one makes me laugh. My uncle lived in Muscatine but travel every day to the Quad Cities for work and before he would head home about once a week he would stop by and visit his big sis in Moline (my mom). I remember that big guy with his big smile under that scruffy beard sitting at our dinning table having coffee and chit chatting with my mom. I would come to the table to say hi and he would look at me and say, "get that war paint off your face, you don't need it your beautiful enough". I would roll my eyes and then he would chase me around with that pinky stubb of his. As everyone knows he lost half his pinky working on a car. Anyway, I will miss you big Dan and your pinky stubb. Love you and RIP your favorite niece Dana"
