Earl Johannes Bartels
April 14, 1926 - January 27, 2018

Earl J. Bartels, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at The Alverno on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

A celebration of Earl's life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2018, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held starting at 10 A.M. prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa at a later date.

Earl Johannes Bartels was born April 14, 1926 to Johannes H. and Viola A.S. (Busch) Bartels on a farm near Baldwin, Iowa. He was a graduate of Elvira High School. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a farm laborer for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

He is survived by brothers, Donald (Sandi) of Clinton, IA, and Frederick of Bryant, IA; sister, Ellen Behrens of Ft. Calhoun, NE; and several nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Donald and Roberta Schwartz of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Fritz H.C. Bartels, a brother Harlan J. Bartels, and a sister Fern V. (Bartels) Randall.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
