Funeral services for Mrs. Edwina Smith Burchett, age 77, of Memphis and formerly of the Independence Community of Overton County will be held 1 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Ricky Kimbel will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Friday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Burchett passed from this life on Monday morning, May 15, 2017 at her home. She was born in Clay County on May 3, 1940 to the late Eather & Eunice Claborn Smith. She worked for many years as a seamstress in the garment industry. She loved her family and was very devoted to her grandchildren, Sydney & Spencer. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo & was a very spiritual person.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sheliah Gruber & husband Scott of Memphis, TN; grandchildren Sydney & Spencer Gruber of Memphis, TN; & sister, Jeanetta Taylor of Allons, TN
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Burchett; & brother, James Smith.
