Funeral services for Mr. John Thomas "J.T." Smith, age 77, of the Timothy Community will be conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Dale Reagan will officiate. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening, May 22, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m.

Mr. Smith passed from this life unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born in Overton County March 13, 1940 to the late Boss T. & Mabian Sweat Smith. He was a member of the Lake Avenue Church of Christ in Celina. His life's work of cabinet making can be found in the kitchens of many homes throughout Overton and the surrounding counties, with his recent years spent handcrafting just about anything made of wood.

His love for his family knew no bounds, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved his Church family, & enjoyed his work as a cabinet maker and enjoyed wood crafting of all kinds.

He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Mrs. Mildred Ridge Smith of the Timothy Community; two loving daughters, Rachel Smith of the Timothy Community & Rebecca Owens & husband Robert of the Timothy Community; son, Tommy Smith of Allons, TN; grandchildren, Brandi Savage & husband John, Ashley Smith, Josh Smith, Jonathan Owens & wife Tristan, MacKenzie Owens, Zander Owens & Logan Owens; great grandchildren, Madison, Kaylynn, Traylin, Brayden, Zoey, Alisia & Paxton Smith; brothers, Harold Smith & wife Janie of Livingston, TN, Howard Smith & wife Denise of Livingston, TN & Bill Smith & wife Marcena of Muncie, IN; sister, Sue Rhodes & husband Larry of Ansonia, OH & many other extended family members & friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his older sister, Meekle Masters who passed earlier this year. & 2 infant sisters.

Pallbearers to serve include: Sam Masters, Ronnie Smith, Keith Ridge, Glen Ridge, Jon Savage, Ricky Bean
