October 29, 1935 - June 20, 2017

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Joyce Hawkins Parsons, age 81, of Nashville and formerly of Overton County will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Bo Fawbush & Dillon Holland will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Parsons passed from this life on Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2017 at the Skyline Medical Center in Madison. She was born in Overton County on October 29, 1935 to the late Rhesa & Allie Ledbetter Hawkins. She was a 1953 graduate of Livingston Academy. Betty was a member of the Donelson View Baptist Church. She loved the Lady Vols, flowers, birds and her grandchildren. Betty was known by many nicknames like Puddin, Bet, Gran & Beuhler. She loved collecting quilts and enjoyed teaching sunday school to the little ones for many years. Betty was always spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the first to pray for you if you needed prayers.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Mr. Porter Sheldon "Pete" Parsons of Nashville, TN; daughter, Jennifer Holland & husband Randy of Lebanon, TN; son, Benny Parsons & wife Renee of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Dillon Holland, Tyler Parsons, Cain Parsons & Ryan Parsons; great grandchildren, Julie Parsons, Jacob Parsons, Joe Parsons, Zayne Parsons, Kaylee Hogan & Avery Reding; sister, Bertha Stoner & husband Bob of Livingston, TN; brothers, Joe Hawkins & wife Beverly of Alpine, TN & James Hawkins of Alpine, TN.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Hawkins.

Pallbearers to serve are Ryan Parsons, Tyler Parsons, Dillon Holland, Cain Parsons, Zayne Parsons, Jacob Parsons & Joe Parsons.

Honorary Pallbearers are Joe & James Hawkins.
