Funeral services for Ms. Mary Matthews, age 87, of Grundy Quarles Hwy,in Gainesboro will be conducted 2 p.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Nolan Cantrell will officiate. Burial will be in the Okolona Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday from 12 noon until time of services.
Ms. Mary passed from this life on Friday morning, September 22, 2017 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Overton County, October 12, 1930 to the late Elmer & Frannie Bell Boles Matthews. She was Baptist in Faith.
Mary enjoyed being with her family, where they would gather around and sing Gospel songs. She was a loving & caring soul, that never said a harmful word about anyone.
She is survived by her brothers, Lawrence Matthews & wife Lola of Crossville, Tn, Sam Matthews of Gainesboro, TN & Horace "Doc" Matthew of Livingston, TN; sisters, Ruby Sherril of Crossville, TN & Nancy Pugh of Livingston, TN; & several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Owen, Hugh Roy, & Lee Matthews; sisters, Etta Smith & Audrey Matthews.
