Mr. Daniel was born in Overton County Tennessee, on July 5, 1936 to the late Floyd Herbert Daniel and Ruby Garrett Daniel. He passed away on September 25, 2017 after a brief illness. Gene was married to his wife Delcie Lorene Ledbetter Daniel for 62 years. They moved to the Muncie area in 1956. Gene farmed for many years in the Randolph county area. He worked for Marhoefer Meat Packing Company, until it closed; followed by Ball Corporation; finally retiring from General Motors after 19 years.

Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and loved having them around. He had a gift for storytelling, sharing stories of his life growing up in Tennessee, work life, and those he met throughout his life. He loved outdoor activities, particularly gardening and fishing. He could regularly be found sitting under his favorite shade tree in the yard just enjoying the breeze. Gene could fix anything and prided himself on figuring out how things worked. He was well-loved.
