Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Norrod, age 80, of Monroe will be conducted 2 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in the Grant Norrod Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday morning from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m.Mr. Norrod passed from this life on Friday evening, November 24, 2017 at the Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born in Overton County on December 26, 1936 to the late A.G. Cordie Brown Norrod. He was a Deacon at the Grace Baptist Church in Alpine for many years. He met the love of his life on a blind date and married soon after in 1958. He served his country from 1958 to 1961 in the United States Army. Ken also served for the Alpine Fire Department for many years and was known as the potato peeler. He enjoyed working at Winningham Hardware and helping the people of Overton County. Kenneth also worked for many years for the Election Commission in Overton County making sure the voting machines was ready for the voters. He loved his family very much and working on his cattle farm in Monroe. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Lucy Helen Smith Norrod of Monroe, TN; son, Jeff Norrod wife Marsha of Monroe, TN; daughter, Shelia Norrod of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren, Ethan Norrod wife Tabitha of Alpine, TN Elliot Norrod of Monroe, TN; great grandchildren, Lanson Norrod Riley Grace Norrod; brother, Billy Norrod wife Ann of Monroe, TN; sister, Carolyn Peterman of Livingston, TN; several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister brother.Pallbearers to serve are Ethan Norrod, Elliot Norrod, Billy Joe Norrod, James Norrod, Jerry Dale Charlie Sells.
