Mary Anderson
July 25, 1925 - January 30, 2018

Mary Gene Anderson, 92, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Arrangements are entrusted to Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown. Mary was born July 25, 1925, to William and Gertrude (Lunde) Hoopegardner in Des Moines, IA. She attended school in Des Moines and received her BA in Home Economics from Iowa State University. Mary taught Home Economics for the Des Moines Community Schools. She was united in marriage to Louie Anderson on August 14, 1949, in Marshalltown. Mary enjoyed attending church and was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

Mary will be missed by two sons: Bill Anderson, Randy (Nancy) Anderson; a daughter in law, Joanne Anderson; six grandchildren: Melissa (Brian) Steinsultz, Melanie Blacksmith, Michelle Hacker, Mindy Hacker, Beth (Justin) White, John (Angie) Anderson; 14 great grandchildren: Brianna Steinsultz, Brent Steinsultz, Brandi Brock, Liana Brock, Justeen Blacksmith, Alauna Blacksmith, Jayden Blacksmith, Ciera Hacker, Karima Heath, Connor Hacker, Alexis Boster, Logan Anderson, Anderson White, Elouise Anderson; two great great grandchildren: Lazarus McKnight and Lucy McKnight. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, a son, Gary, and a daughter, Vicky.
