Graveside services for Mrs. Arxie Tennessee Sells Jones, age 89, of Livingston & formerly of Alpine will be conducted 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine. Bro. David Beaty will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at Livingston Funeral Home with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m..
Mrs. Arxie passed from this life on Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center in Livingston. She was born in Alpine, Tenn in Overton County on February 25, 1928 to the late James Washington & Alba Kennedy Tayse Sells. She attended the Alpine Presbyterian Church. Arxie loved sewing, quilting & cooking for her family and anyone in need in her community. She enjoyed traveling & gambling with her friends. She also enjoyed going all over the Upper Cumberlands to Eastern Star Meetings with her friends. She was always willing to help where she could.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hancock & husband Jerry of Monroe, TN.; step grandchildren, Jim Jones, Thorn Jones, Elana Callegari, Cheryl Thomas & LeVada Skakun; serveral step great grandchildren & nieces.
In addition to her parents, Arxie was preceded in death by her husband, Arlan I. Jones; son, James Berry Jones; granddaughter, Cindy Hancock; sister, Lois Eldridge; brother, Willard Sells; half-sisters, Lena Sells Norris, Della Tayse Chilton, Lola Tayse Norris & Vella Tayse Moore; half-brothers, Sam Sells & Carvel Tayse.
