"I got to know Myrtie through her good friend, Eileen McCay, who once made her home in the Alpine community, but lived in Memphis when I got to know her. Prior to her death, Eileen owned a couple of acres of property out near Taylors Crossroads, and each spring, she would drive up from Memphis to spend a few days. Eileen especially enjoyed going on drives to look for wildflowers, and would often take Myrtie along for the day. I would sometimes accompany the two of them and enjoyed very much these little jaunts through the countryside. Eileen was a very outspoken person, but she knew that no matter what the topic of conversation was, Myrtie didn't hesitate to let Eileen know what she thought. Myrtie was about the only person I knew who could get Eileen to be quiet for just a few minutes. Myrtie always kept her yard looking like a professional lawn care person had done the mowing and her love of flowers could be seen everywhere in her yard. Myrtie's daughter, Mary Price (Tootie) and I went through high school together and graduated with the Class of 1963. I send my love to both Jean and Tootie during this time of loss."
