Joann Morgan
November 23, 1943 - February 2, 2018

Joann Sue Morgan, 74, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Miller's at Oak Pointe. Born November 23, 1943 in Huntington, she was the daughter of Deloise and Emma Amelia (LaVine) Earhart.

She graduated from Warren High School. On Feb. 24, 1962, she married William Morgan in Warren. The young couple started a family and moved to various surrounding communities before coming to Whitley County in 1976. After Bill took a new job in 1982, they moved to Calhan, Colo. and after Bill passed, Joann moved back to Columbia City in the mid 2000's. Along with being a homemaker, she worked for at Whitley County Hospital, Calhan Housing Authority and the Hallmark Store in Columbia City before it closed.

She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church. Being a faithful Christian, she enjoyed reading her bible, attending bible groups, participating in a cancer survivor group, the Red Hatters, Midweek Meals, Relay for Life and helping with Hats for the Homeless. In her free time she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting and visiting with friends.

Survivors include her sons, Scott (Christina) Morgan, of Columbia City and Boston "Andy" Morgan, of Colorado; daughter, Kelli Friend, of West Virginia; sister, Sandy (Dale) Barkey, of Columbia City; brother, Richard (Teresa) Earhart, of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren, Joel Morgan, Lydia Morgan, Pamela Todd, Amanda Todd-Campbell, Emily Morgan, Campbell Morgan, Tyler Friend, Sara Friend, Brittney Brown and Tabatha Green; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 2002; and daughter, Traci Todd in 1997.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Fred Stayton officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Wood Lawn Cemetery in Warren.
