Joan Pruess
March 19, 1929 - February 3, 2018

Joan Pruess, 88, died peacefully early Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 in the Mechanicsville Specialty Care Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton and then a time of sharing will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Clarence. A memorial has been established for the Dementia Society of America. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Joan was born on March 19, 1929 on a farm near New Liberty, Iowa and was the daughter of Alvin (Bo) and Mayme (Holt) Burmeister. She was united in marriage to Lelan George Pruess in Davenport on March 6, 1948. Joan was a 4-H Leader, and a hard working farmer's wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her three children; Sandy (Randy) Boots of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Bev Penningroth of Tipton, Iowa and Robert Lee (Anna) Pruess of Clarence, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Rob Coppess (fiancé Laura Husmann), Noah (Jessica) Coppess, David (Leslie) Boots, Kim (Terry) Mente, Angela (Jim) Knox, Jeff (Carrie) Pruess, Darren (Anna) Pruess, and Cindy (Matt) Weber, and 21 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Verba Claeys of Michigan and Betty Risley of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters (Marilyn Sievers, Helen Paustian and Joyce Burmeister) and 5 brothers (Roy, Virgil, Dale, Don and Lyle Burmeister), Son-in-law, Bruce Penningroth and one grandchild.
