Orin John Anderson

DONNA - Orin John Anderson was born in Donna, Texas to Caroline Gran and Oscar John Anderson on February 15, 1921. On the morning of February 3, 2018, he joined the choir of angels.

A lifelong resident of Donna, Orin graduated from Donna High School as Salutatorian in 1939 and went on to attend Edinburg Junior College. He served his country in the Naval Air Corp and then returned to Donna. He spent his entire career working in Donna and retired from Donna ISD as the Tax Assessor and Collector.

Orin's lifelong love of music positioned him in the lead role in numerous community musical productions and singing for weddings and funerals. He shared his musical talents throughout his life by singing and playing the piano First Christian Church, Donna until he joined the heavenly choir. The joy of music is a passion he's shared with his wife of 69 years.

He's survived by his wife Hazel Hart Anderson; his three children, Kathy (James) McWhorter, Robert (Joy) Anderson, Susan (Earl) Wiley; four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco from 5-7pm Tuesday, February 6th and a graveside memorial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, February 7th at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
