JoAnn M. Porter, 80, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, February 2, 2018, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Family services will be held at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Almost Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Howard; her children, Larry (Melody) Porter, Fort Dodge; Timothy (DeAnn) Porter, Sioux Rapids; Lori (Willis) Nicholson, Lehigh; Troy (Tammy) Porter, Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Travis, Amanda and Brandon; ten great grandchildren; and her sister Betty Crimmins, Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
JoAnn Marguerite Cole, the daughter of Arthur and Wilma (Amo) Cole, was born November 21, 1937, in Waterloo. She attended Fort Dodge schools and received her CNA license. On December 29, 1956, JoAnn was united in marriage to Howard Porter. JoAnn was Supervisor for Environmental Services at Trinity Regional Medical Center for many years, prior to her retirement.
JoAnn loved making all sorts of crafts and solving crossword puzzles. She enjoyed league bowling, was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved her pets and all animals. JoAnn treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
