Reverend William B. Devine
September 25, 1932 - February 3, 2018

Reverend Father William B. Devine was called by God to Himself on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

Visitation of the body will be held at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feburary 10, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, Bode with Bishop Nickless officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Committal of the body will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Fr. Devine was an only child and is survived by his cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hilda (Gales) Devine, and his grandparents.

William Bernard Devine was born September 25, 1932 in Algona. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated in 1950. He attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, graduating in 1954. He attended seminary at St. Benedict Abbey in Benet Lake, WI and Mount St. Bernard in Dubuque, being ordained May 31, 1958 at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, Sioux City.

Fr. Devine served on the faculty at Bishop Heelan High School 1958-59, Asst. Chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City 1959-60, Asst. Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, LeMars, 1960-64, Asst. Pastor, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, West Bend, 1964-65, Asst. Pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Fort Dodge, 1965-66, Chaplain, Marian Home, Fort Dodge, 1966, Chaplain, Women's Reformatory, Rockwell City, 1966, Asst. Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Milford, 1966-67, Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Sioux Rapids, 1967-69, Asst. Pastor, St. Rose of Lima Parish, Denison, 1971-74, Pastor, St. Mary Parish, Dow City, 1974-77, Pastor, Christ the King Parish, Dayton, 1977-78, Pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Ruthven, 1978-79, Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, Moville, 1979-80, Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Schaller, 1980-85, Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Duncombe, 1985-86, Asst. Archivist, Diocese of Sioux City, 1986-87, Chaplain, St. Joseph Nursing Home, Norfolk, NE, 1987-1997. He retired in 1997 and made Sioux City his home.
