Shirley Ann Walker
May 28, 1929 - February 3, 2018

Shirley Ann Walker died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 4, 2018. She was born in Burlington, IA on May 29, 1929. She met her husband Earl when she was a just a teenager and they married on March 6, 1949.
They moved to Chicago and spent many happy years there raising their two sons. She was the lunch room supervisor at Nixon Elementary School for almost 25 years. She loved taking care of her "kids" there too. After retirement, she and Earl moved to Broken Arrow, OK where they enjoyed many years of traveling thru the west and stopping by any casino (especially after making the right turn to Laughlin) with good slots.
Shirley had such sweetness in her heart and while Alzheimer's robbed her of so much, it couldn't take away the gentleness of her spirit.
Shirley is survived by her husband Earl Walker, and her son Thomas (Lynn) Walker. She was predeceased by her son Gary Walker, parents Roy and Agnes Gawthrop, and brothers Jim, Charles, and Walter Gawthrop.
The funeral service for Mrs. Walker will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 9th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Mark Schowalter will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association
