In loving memory of

Irmgard Danner
March 19, 1939 - February 2, 2018

Irmgard "Emmy" Danner , 78, of Punta Gorda, Florida died peacefully at her home after a long illness on February 2, 2018 surrounded by her children and sister. Emmy was born in Vrbas, Yugoslavia on March 19, 1939 and was the oldest daughter of Philip and Elisabeth Neber. During WWII, the family were refugees, fleeing Yugoslavia and eventually settling in Tailfingen, Germany. In 1955, the family immigrated to the New York City where Emmy worked as a nanny and a bank teller. She married Siegfried Danner in 1959 and they moved to Southern California in 1963 where she was a stay at home mom to her three children for many years. When her husband later began a business, Royal Airline Linen, she worked side by side with him for many years to help make the business a success. In 1993, they retired to Punta Gorda, Florida where she has resided since.
Emmy was dedicated to her family, loved to travel and had a strong Christian faith that comforted her through her life until the end. Emmy had a generous soul and was always concerned about the needs of others. She also loved to cook, bake and sew. There was nothing better for her children and family members than receiving her care package of homemade cookies every Christmas. Most recently she enjoyed using her sewing machine to make quilts and embroidered crafts that she delighted in sending to family and friends. Along with her family and friends, her two cats Jesse and Brandy will miss her greatly.
Emmy is survived by her son Robert and daughter in-law Lisa Danner; daughter Susan and son-in-law Gene Lemelin; daughter Monica Danner; grandchildren, Christopher and Marissa Schneider, Brian Purdy, Cody and Jennifer Vermillion, and great grandson Hunter; sisters Elfie Neber and Sieglinde Belling; brothers Roland and Manfred Neber. She was preceded in death by her husband Siegfried, her parents Philip and Elisabeth Neber and her oldest brother Edgar.
Donations honoring her memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
