Betty Walford
August 11, 1927 - February 4, 2018


Betty Walford, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Iowa. Betty was born August 12, 1927 in Atchison County, Missouri the daughter of Clifford and Ada (Garrett) Binns. She was raised in the Hamburg area and was united in marriage to Ralph Owen in 1945 in Hiawatha, Kansas. The family lived in Shenandoah, Iowa for many years where Betty worked for Mt. Arbor Nurseries in the labeling department and later was an Administrative Assistant. Betty moved to Red Oak, Iowa when she married Donald Dean Walford on August 21, 1975. She worked at Union Carbide where she retired. Betty loved cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, and just having fun. She attended First United Methodist Church and was known to all as Grandma.

Preceding her in death were her infant son: Ronald Lee Owen; parents; husband: Donald Dean Walford on December 9, 2002; and brothers: Carl, William, and Lloyd Binns. Survivors include her son: Clifford Dale Owen and wife Carrie of Red Oak; sister: Joyce Albrecht of Farragut, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Roger Walford and wife Donna of Red Oak and Tom Walford and wife Betty of Gilbert, AZ; sister-in-law: Bert Walford of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Riverton, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Family YMCA.
