Paul Edward Hermiston

Funeral services for Paul Edward Hermiston, 92, of Bennett, who died peacefully in Mercy Hospital on Monday, February 5, 2018 will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:30 am, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. The Rev. Richard Okumu will officiate the service. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with The Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A native of Cedar County Paul was born on March 13, 1925 in DeWitt, Iowa. He was the son of John and Vivian Ryan Hermiston. Paul attended Bennett High School and on September 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to Donnalee Whitaker in Davenport, Iowa. Paul was a farmer all of his life and was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. Above all Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen Edwards and brother, Raymond Hermiston and infant son, Walter Paul Hermiston.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donnalee, who resides in Prairie Hills Assisted Living; 5 daughters, Lynn (Hans) Jess of Olin, Iowa, Carol (Jerry) Oakley of Tipton, Iowa, Mary (Dan) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patricia (Wayne) Yarolem of Tipton, Iowa and Ann (Marty) Mente of Tipton, Iowa; 2 sons, Philip (Terri) Hermiston of Bennett, Iowa and Lyle (Tonya) Hermiston of Tipton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Drake of Davenport, Iowa, Ladean Christenson of Davenport, Iowa and Doris Bennett of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Lionel Hermiston of Walcott, Iowa and John Hermiston of Blue Grass, Iowa.
