Joy Jeniece Wilson - by her daughter, Kaye Means

Joy Janiece Wilson was born December 31,1943 in Fort Worth TX to Carter C and Wanda Gale Thompson.

Janiece becomes a mom.
In September of 1969 I believe I became one of the luckiest babies to ever be born because when I was three days old I was adopted by the most amazing woman I have or again ever will meet. My mom knew nothing about being selfish, impatient, hateful or rude. I can't imagine another person that could be more compassionate, caring, patient, or loving than her. She loved to laugh and she seemed to effortlessly be able to make things fun or funny for everyone else. There were the few occasions that this could cause others a little discomfort or embarrassment. One example of this would be... Her and I go to the grocery store to do some shopping. We are walking down an aisle that has about four or five other people on it when all of a sudden she starts grabbing at imaginary flying bugs. I plea with her to please stop. I assured her she wasn't funny. This however must have really upset the imaginary bugs because then she becomes even more animated at catching these imaginary bugs! At this point I decided the smartest thing for me to do to save myself anymore embarrassment was to just walk off and leave her like I didn't know this crazy lady. I make it around the corner and started down the next aisle when all of a sudden this pitiful voice cries out "Kaye don't leave me you know you're mamma gets scared". I feel blessed and extremely grateful to have hundreds more stories or memories like this because right now it is so incredibly hard to imagine not having her here with me. This lovely woman was not just my mom but my very best friend.

Janiece becomes a grandma, or in her case a Nene!
My beautiful daughter Amanda Joy Means was born on April 27, 1990 and immediately she became, as my mom would say, "the light of her life". The two of them had a very special bond. Which at times was to my dismay because it would lead to both of them needing a time out! There is no doubt they had a lot of fun and loved each other a bushel and a peck!!

Janiece becomes a great-grandmother, oops a great Nene.
March 22, 2011 Amanda gives birth to Jaxson Tyler Dowdy. Shortly after Jaxson was born my mom's health starting slowly getting worse. Since the day he was born but especially the last couple of years Jaxson blessed my mom with his laughter and playing and put a smile on her face until the end. With only being six years old I hope he grows up knowing how much he contributed to the happiness in his Nene's life.

One thing I know for sure is Jaxson, Amanda and I have no doubt how much we were loved by this beautiful woman because anyone blessed enough to have known her could not only hear her say kind words but you could literally feel her love. I can only hope that she knew how much of that love was returned. We will forever love and miss you Nene
