Norman Gene Claypool
April 12, 1934 - February 6, 2018

North English- Norman Gene Claypool was born April 12, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Layton E. & Gertrude Irene (Singleton) Claypool. On April 12, 1953 Gene was united in marriage to Dolores Marie Spiess at the Bethel Church in Sigourney. He served as a Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army from November 1956 to November 1958. He worked for Planks Feed Store, Kirkpatrick Feed Store and Strohman's Implement in North English. He managed a filling station in Colorado and was a custodian for Rock Mtn. National Park. In 1996 Gene was united in marriage to Glenda Stinson in Allenspark, Colorado. They later divorced. Gene was a past member of the Odd Fellow Lodge. He enjoyed his taking care of his horses. Gene died on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 83 years.

He is survived by two sons Mark (Mary) Claypool of Belton, Missouri and Michael (Kelly) Claypool of Estes Park, Colorado ; two grandchildren Katie Claypool of Fort Collins, Colorado and Michelle Claypool of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers Winston Claypool of North English and Layton Claypool of What Cheer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; his first wife Dolores in May of 1995; two brothers Harold & Lloyd Claypool and a sister Marilyn Claypool.
