Betty Geiger

Betty Geiger, 89, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born on April 11, 1928, in Waterloo, the daughter of Albert A. and Inez Fish Walters. She married Glen E. Kaune on March 19, 1945, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on March 28, 1951. She married James L. Geiger on November 24, 1951, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on July 9, 1987.

Betty worked as a resident counselor for Quakerdale for seven years until retiring in 1990. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Betty enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and games of all kinds. In her later years, she enjoyed adult coloring books. She loved to go camping and fishing. She was great at crafting, especially crocheting. Betty is survived by: four daughters, Karen (Gary) Eliason, Brenda Rand, Lylia (Van) Hare and Judy Peterson, all of Waterloo; a son, Gary (Jo) Kaune of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Doug (Amy) Kaune, Tammy Newcomb, Wendy Jordan, Laurie Hare, Michelle Hare, Jeannie Frederiksen, Brett Frederiksen and Misty Meyer; 14 great-grandchildren, Addyson Kaune, Ashley (Adam) Arnold, Alyssa Newcomb, Nicole Jordan, Hayley (Austin) Bagg, Cody Jordan, Kourtnie Hare, Jimmy Reese, Emily Reese, Jonathan Meyer, Kaleb Meyer, Johnny Howell and Brandon Howell; and eight great great-grandchildren, Alexis Newcomb, Rylie Newcomb, Nevaeh Newcomb, Robert Newcomb, Tyree Newcomb, Trace Newcomb, Arrianna Stovell and Gary Arnold.

She was preceded in death by: her husbands; a son, James A. Geiger; two grandsons, Glenn D. Kaune and Kris Meyer, a sister, Fawn Buckner, a daughter-in-law, Linda Kaune, and a son-in-law, Kenneth Rand.
