Joyce was born on June 30, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, the second daughter of Raymond C. and Laura C. (Schultz) Toussaint.  She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1956.  She married the love of her life, John E. Feldman, August 22, 1959, at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Muscatine, Iowa.  Joyce and her husband resided on the family farm outside Illinois City.  Joyce was a wonderful mother, cleaner, game player and friend.  She was an excellent cook, especially known for her raisin pie, pecan pie, potato salad, brownies, applesauce and pumpkin bars, jello salads, apple salad, dressing for wilted lettuce, and fresh corn from the garden-just to name a few.  She also enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives and always set a beautiful table.  She loved to play games and cards and so enjoyed her clubs and socializing.  She also enjoyed her shopping trips with Elda Mier, Pat Terrill, Peggy Heaton, Kay Carlson, Joyce Freyermuth and Janice Stewart.

Joyce started the United Methodist Women's Guild at the Illinois City United Methodist Church, she also named Camp Sacajawea in Muscatine when she was a Girl Scout, and led the Cancer Drive for Lower Rock Island County for years.  She also worked many elections for Rock Island County.  She was a volunteer at Muscatine General Hospital (now Trinity), active in her Class of 1956 from Muscatine, Farm Bureau member, Pork Producer member, and was always very active in both her daughters' school events and life activities.  She also hosted along with her husband, many Toussaint Family Reunions.  She was an active member of Prairie Order of Eastern Star #516 and was secretary for over ten years and a member since 1980.  She enjoyed people and delighted in her fifteen years as a greeter at HyVee.  Mom's hands helped and served many friends and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her bubbly personality.

Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Laurie (Feldman) Carpenter and her husband, Rick who live up the road in rural Illinois City and Lisa (Feldman) Kelly and her husband, Scott of Overland Park, Kansas.  She loved her grandchildren, John and Katie Kelly and Ricky and Casey Carpenter.   In addition, Joyce will be greatly missed by her sister Sandra Roth and husband, Bernard of Muscatine and many friends and neighbors.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John on October 2, 2003.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped care for Joyce over the last years and those that enjoyed a laugh from her direct comments!
