Samuel M. "Sammy" Sandoval, 84, of Lorain, passed away the evening of Monday, February 5, 2018, at Fairview Hospital after a sudden ailment.

Mr. Sandoval was born March 11, 1933, in South Lorain, where he grew up and resided until his untimely death. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1950, where he earned many awards and trophies for participating in basketball, softball, and swimming.

Shortly after graduation, Samuel was drafted into the U.S Army and served in the Korean War. In March of 1955, he was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal. Sam retired as an electrician from the United States Steel Corporation, after 34 years of service. He was a proud member of Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, the Guadalupe Society, and a lifelong member of The Mexican Mutual Society in Lorain. Samuel was also a member of the United Steel Workers 1104, Lorain. He loved to watch his television programs, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians, reminiscing with loved ones of his youth, and doing word search puzzles. Samuel was the most loving and giving Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.

He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Andrea V. Sandoval of Lorain; Maggie M. (Michael) Nejadfard of Elyria; brother Jose "Joe" (Margaret) Sandoval of Lorain; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife Arminia (née Aguliar) Sandoval in 2010; his parents Luis and Pascuala (née Sandoval) Sandoval; and son Michael Sandoval in 2006.

His family will receive family and friends Sunday February 11 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st Street, South Lorain (440)277-8164. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 2 P.M. Sunday. Closing Prayers will be Monday at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home then Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

His family suggests memorial contributions to the funeral home to offset burial expenses.
