Mary Lou Smith
August 31, 1937 - January 31, 2018

Mary Lou Smith, 80 of Collins, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Mary was born August 31, 1937, in Russell, IA to George "Frank" and Margaret (Hickle) Boozell. She attended Collins Schools and was united in marriage to Milford Russell Smith on September 5, 1953. In her early years, Mary babysat at home before going to work for Collegiate Pacific and eventually retiring from Donnelly's Marketing. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking, playing cards and watching her stories. Mary loved spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her sons: Alan (Deb) Smith of Colo and Kim Smith of Collins; her daughters: Phyllis Steiner of Collins and Karen (Scott) Schnicker of Des Moines; her brothers: Irvin Boozell of Colo and Lonnie (Judy) Boozell of California; her sister, Betty Breer of Collins; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons: Randy and Donnie Smith; and two brothers: Pete and Bob Boozell. Visitation will be Saturday, February 3 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada beginning at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Mary. Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Green Village and Suncrest Hospice for their support, care and compassion. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
