Bob Churchill
December 12, 1935 - February 2, 2018

Robert "Bob" Churchill, 82 of Maxwell, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home. Bob was born December 12, 1935, the son of Sumner and Esther (Pickles) Churchill. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1954 and was united in marriage to Joyce Steelman on November 15, 1958, in Hubbard. Bob worked at John Deere for 10 years while farming and having a seed dealership. In 1973 he was recognized as one of the Iowa Master Pork Producers. Bob was a past member of the Maxwell Lions Club and a present member of the Loring United Methodist Church and the Nevada Whirlers Square Dancing Club, serving as club president 1994-2015. Bob is survived by his wife Joyce of Maxwell; his daughters: Jodi (Tom) Keating of Cedar Rapids, Lori Churchill of Maxwell and Lisa Churchill-Palmer (Matthew Ramsey) of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren: Kevin Keating (Brittany Oglesby), Tim Keating, Ryan Keating, Ben Reeves, Curt Reeves, Kaley Churchill-Palmer and Katherine Palmer; one great-granddaughter, Nova Grace Palmer; a brother, Dean Churchill of Des Moines; a sister, Neoma Meisel of Colfax and sister-in-laws Jacquelyn Churchill and Marcelyn Churchill. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Clayton and Sumner Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Shepherd. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 9 at Loring United Methodist Church near Maxwell with Pastor Gina Spohnheimer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint Home Hospice in memory of Bob. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
