Florence M Briody
February 6, 2018

Madison / Detroit - Florence M. Briody, age 101, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 surrounded by her family at All Saints Assisted Living, Madison, WI. Florence graduated from Hart (MI) High School, and went on to attend Detroit Business University, class of 1937. She was united in marriage to John M. Briody on May 20, 1950.

Florence was a kind, gentle soul who adored her family. She was a superb homemaker who could cook, bake, sew, and garden with great results. Her apple pies were legendary. Florence enjoyed playing various card games, watching sports and attending Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings games, but it was her family that provided her the greatest joy. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren gave her eyes a special sparkle. Florence had a strong determination as evidenced by her longevity, overcoming many life challenges including breast cancer in 1974. She will be missed by all.

Florence is survived by her children, John P. (Loretta) Briody, Kathleen A. (Michael) Lipp and Robert E. (Nancy) Briody; her grandchildren, Sam (Amanda) and Max Lipp and Kelly and Jeff Briody; her great-grandchildren, Madeline and Hadley Lipp; her sister-in-law, Lisa Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her siblings, Dorothy (Al) Port, Aina (Alden) Lindberg, and Edwin Johnson; and her granddaughter, Linda M. Lipp. Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn, Michigan.

The family sends a huge thank you to the staffs at All Saints Senior Apartments and Assisted Living units as well as Agrace HospiceCare.

Memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.

"So sorry to hear of Mrs Briody's passing. I was Mrs Briody's and My Briody's) dental hygienist for 31 years in Dearborn. Your dad was a peach! Your mom was so sweet. She would bring me in some chili sauce that she made after my mom grew tired of making it. I know your mom was very sad when your dad passed. Unfortunately I lost track of her after Dr Love sold the practice. They are now reunited in Heaven."

"There are no words to describe how much Florence was loved by all at All Saints Assisted Living. She was the most gentle, kind, loving & adorable lady who gave the "GREATEST" hugs. Every day was a fashion show with Florence who was always matching with her outfits, scarves & especially her jewelry & always had painted finger nails to match. She will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. My Deepest Sympathy! Jane Delaney"

"Dear Briody Family, I enjoyed trips over to see your parents Mr. and Mrs. Briody with my Sister Loretta and my dear Brother-In-Law John. Jack and Florence were very special people and would make me laugh and feel happy when I visited them. Florence was the sweetest woman on earth and I enjoyed having a couple glasses of wine with her the last time I saw her. I know she is in a good place and will truly be missed by all that knew her. With Deepest Sympathy, Diane Cole"
